The Cachet of an Arabian Horse
There is always much pride and regard in owning an Arabian Horse. This is due to several factors such as its history and physical appearance. Here are more reasons why this breed is well-favored by many.
Origin
Arabian Horse blood can be found in most horses of today especially those found in Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and the United States. This is chiefly because the Arabian Horse breed is one of the oldest of its kind. It originates from the Middle East, as its name hints. Horse aficionados have always been enthused about this breed for the reason that it is versatile and that it has high stamina, speed and agility.
Prestige
Arabian Horses have always been quite popular among the members of the well-off society. This particular trend emerged in the 1980’s. It has been like this even in the past, especially in the Middle East, for these horses were often times kept indoors with their owners for protective reasons. This breed is frequently favoured by the wealthy and well-known due to its elegance, intelligence and trainability.
Physical Features
The Arabian breed of horse sports a wedge-shaped head with a profound bone structure. Its muzzle is softly contoured. Although not all, there are some of these horses that have a bulging portion on the area between the eyes which is termed as “jibbah”. This allows the horse to live in dry and hot conditions like those in the Middle East. Its body is stock, lean and laced with muscles. Its neck is elegantly arched and curved. Its coat can be of any of these top three colors: bay (reddish brown), gray and chestnut (dark golden-brown). Although rare, there can also be some black Arabian Horses. Only Arabian horses that are crossed with Appaloosas can have spotted coats. Its tail, together with the mane, is thick and silky-smooth and is also carried high.
Temperament
Being of fine quality, Arabian Horses are graced with agility, endurance and boldness. The Arabians that we see today are easy to be and work with under different circumstances because in the past only the horses with good personality are used for breeding. However, they can also be stubborn and intolerant to mistreatment. It surely takes a careful balance of gentleness and strictness to handle this horse.
